What is Diabetes:

Type One Diabetes:





Type One Diabetes, also known as Insulin dependent diabetes is the most severe form of diabetes. Type one is known to develop in children or teens and can be referred to as juvenile diabetes. In type one the body's immune system attacks the islet cells that produce insulin in the pancreas. Once the islet cells are destroyed they body can no longer produce its own insulin. Without insulin a buildup of sugar can damage a person's kidneys, eyes, nerves, heart and can also lead to coma or death. 



Signs of Type 1 Diabetes:

  •  Increased Thirst
  • Rapid & Unexplained weight loss
  • Increased Urination
  • Extreme Weakness
  • Nausea & Vomiting
Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes:
  • Insulin Injections/Pump
  • Exercise
  • Decrease Stress


 Type Two Diabetes:



Type Two Diabetes also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes. Type two diabetes typically develop after age 35. People with type two diabetes are able to produce some insulin. People with type two diabetes typically are overweight. 

 

Signs of Type 2 Diabetes: 
The signs of type two diabetes are the same as type one but the onset is much slower. 

Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes:
  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Weight loss
  • Medications
